History

ERTEK S.A. (Research and Technology on Building Construction) was founded in 1987 aiming to the development of structural elements which compose the structural skeleton of a building, while provide qualitative features responding to social needs. The most important of these needs is the socialization (i.e. availability to everyone) of the management of the building process.

ERTEK S.A. adopted the patent rewarded in 1985 by General Secretariat of Research and Technology (Greek institution) to the architect DIMITRIS PAPANIKOLAOU for the idea of "Sizable Structural Stone", while proceeded to implementation under the supervision of the architect.

The first constructions were three-floor buildings built in Attica (Greece) in 1988. Then many private, as well as public projects were realized, through which the research was completed, practical problems were solved, quality improved, while the cost fell. The built space constructed exceeds 90.000m2 in total; this includes residences, complexes, council as well as cultural centers, hotels and office buildings up to 5 floor high.

During these projects ERTEK S.A. cooperated with architects, civil engineers and mechanical engineers from Greece. In addition ERTEK S.A. cooperated with NTUA on the documentation of the structural elements.

Regarding the management, the structural system of "Sizable Structural Stone" does not require specialized techniques; as a consequence the management could be handled by different persons or associations, for a great variety of constructions, under various circumstances.
